Approximately 150 people have been detained by the police.

This is what the head of duty at the Copenhagen Police, Henrik Brix, told Ritzau on Friday evening, after the police had gained a better overview of the situation.

  • We are finding out who did what, he says of the many detainees.

Continued demonstration
There is still a demonstration at the site on Friday evening with approximately 100 participants.

  • It takes place in good order.
  • And then there is still this cultural festival on the premises in the function rooms. It also takes place in good order, says Henrik Brix.

Earlier on Friday, the police told Ritzau that stones were thrown at the police.

  • They were about to start a fight, and then the police intervened, and then one group attacked the police, said warden Henrik Brix.

The detainees are all from the group of protesters, the warden says.

Due to the many arrests, the police had to cordon off part of Gammel Køge Landevej.

On Friday evening around 9.15 pm, however, the warden states that the last detainees are being taken to various police locations, where they will be questioned, so that the police can clarify their roles.

The police must then assess whether any of them should possibly be produced in a constitutional hearing with a view to remand.

Cause unknown

150 detained
It is the stretch between Vigerslevvej and Folehaven on Gammel Køge Landevej that is blocked off, the police said earlier in the evening.

  • We are present in connection with a demonstration on Gl. Køge Landevej at number 117, which developed in a violent direction. We have therefore cordoned off between Folehaven and Vigerslevvej, wrote Copenhagen Police.

The police do not know the cause of the conflict, but both the party and the demonstrators have a connection to Eritrea.

  • There is something or other that these two groups do not agree on, says Henrik Brix.

There is no information that anyone has been injured – neither party participants, protesters nor officers.
