A well-known Great writer Tesfaye Gebreab in the field of literature in Ethiopia for the past 30 years, has been receiving medical treatment in Nairobi, Kenya for the past few months and passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at the age of 53.
Tesfaye Gebreab journalist and author, has written eight books –historical novels, true stories, short stories, and memoirs. His latest book, ‘Ye Nurebi Mahder’, ‘Nurenebi File’ has gotten a great notice from local and regional readers as he pens a hundred year long story of Eritrea and Ethiopia. Even though Tesfaye writes in Amharic he receives admiration from Eritrean readers.
This is about the renowned Eritrean journalist and editor in the Ethiopian printed press. In Eritrea, however, amongst his fellow Eritrean citizens, he is mainly known for his books and his attachment to the Oromo ethnic group.
Tesfaye has been served as a journalist during the early rule of the EPRDF in different positions in the Ethiopian Press Agency and the party-affiliated Efoyita magazine.
Tesfaye Gebreab, who had a literary inclination and talent since his school days contributed remarkable books and publications personally and at an institutional level. During his stay at Efoyita, he has organized the publication of five volumes of literary anthology books called Efita which comprise various works from renowned authors. The Efita volumes are considered a remarkable initiative with regard to motivating authors and producing quality literature to youth enthusiasts.
A phenomenal writer Tesfaye Gebreab, his novels achieved many awards, especially in two books that talked about political issues in a very simple way. Some of them remain controversial, some of them open the new field in the new area of content.
His popular novels are Yebruka Zimta it means Silence of the Burkha River and Yederasiw Mastawesha received appreciation from worldwide which enhances his content and goes to the next level. His books will be found on Amazon at reasonable rates.

Tesfaye was born on August 28, 1968 in Oromia in the town of Bishoftu to Eritrean parents, he worked as a journalist and was a full time writer.
